Volvo Ups The Car Safety Standard Yet Again

Volvo Cars has unveiled a world-first advancement in seat belt technology with a multi-adaptive safety belt. This is an adaptation of the first three point seat belt introduced by Volvo in 1959.

Volvo Ups The Car Safety Standard Yet Again

New Features

The new multi-adaptive system adjusts seatbelt tension using sensor data, tailoring it to occupant size, position, and crash severity to optimize safety and reduce injury risk during collisions.

New Features

Increased Safety

This new innovation brings eleven load-limiting profiles in contrast to the previous three, providing a more precise and effective response in a wider range of crash types and scenarios.

Increased Safety

Thoroughly Tested

The technology was refined and tested at Volvo Cars’ renowned Safety Centre crash lab, a facility that enables engineers to simulate a wide range of accident scenarios and validate systems that far exceed global crash safety standards.

Still Improving

Through over-the-air (OTA) software updates, Volvo can refine how the system interprets new crash data, occupant profiles, and environmental conditions and improve over time.
