Chery’s first electric SUV in Australia is entering 2025 with a new name and a sharper value proposition. Formerly the Omoda E5, the small SUV is now branded simply as the Chery E5, reflecting a broader global realignment and the planned local debut of the Omoda brand later in the year.

This rebranding sees the Omoda lettering removed from the exterior and steering wheel, replaced by Chery badging. While the Omoda name will continue in other global markets, in Australia, the C5 and E5 will now sit solely under the Chery umbrella.

Reduced pricing across the range

The biggest change for Australian buyers comes in the form of permanent price reductions.

ModelPrice before on-road costs
2025 Chery E5 Urban$36,990
2025 Chery E5 Ultimate$40,990

The Urban now matches the promotional pricing previously offered, dropping a full $6,000 compared to its original launch price. The Ultimate is $1,000 above its prior promotional figure, but $5,000 lower than its initial RRP. Drive-away pricing will vary by state.

Powertrain and charging

Both E5 variants share the same drivetrain—a single electric motor producing 150kW and 340Nm, powered by a 61.1kWh lithium iron phosphate battery. The front-wheel-drive setup delivers a 0–100km/h time of 7.6 seconds and a claimed WLTP range of 430km.

Charging specs include:

  • Max AC charging: 6.6kW (single phase) / 9.9kW (three phase)
  • Max DC charging: 80kW
