Toyota Motor Corporation Australia Limited has issued a safety recall (campaign number 6GG01, recall reference REC-006550) affecting a limited number of 2025 Lexus LX vehicles sold locally.

The recall relates to a Transmission Control Module (TCM) programming issue, which may cause the transmission to rev faster than intended. This could result in a loss of motive power and may also lead to transmission fluid leakage. If leaked fluid comes into contact with an ignition source, it could potentially cause a vehicle fire while driving.

What’s the defect, and why is it so serious?

According to the recall notice, incorrect programming of the TCM may cause abnormal transmission behaviour, leading to:

  • Loss of motive power while driving
  • Transmission fluid leakage
  • Increased risk of vehicle fire

These issues could significantly increase the risk of an accident, potentially resulting in serious injury or death to vehicle occupants, other road users, and damage to property.

Which vehicles are affected?

  • Make: Lexus
  • Model: LX (FJA310R, VJA310R)
  • Variants: LX500d F Sport, LX500d Luxury, LX500d Overtrail (4X4), LX500d Sports Luxury
  • Model Years: 2025
  • Total Affected Units in Australia: 569

A list of affected VINs has been published. Lexus LX owners are encouraged to check if their vehicle is included in the recall.

What should owners do now?

Lexus Australia will contact affected owners in writing, requesting they make an appointment with their preferred Lexus dealer.

At the dealership, technicians will inspect and rectify the issue free of charge to ensure the transmission operates safely and as intended.
