The Australian electric SUV market is going to get a new entrant soon – the Skoda Elroq. It is scheduled to arrive in September 2025 with a single battery size and powertrain combination only,  and will be priced from $54,990 before on-road costs.

Designed to offer a more compact and affordable alternative to the larger Skoda Enyaq, the Skoda Elroq will take on competitors such as the BYD Atto 3, Kia EV3, and Volkswagen ID.4, while undercutting the likes of the Tesla Model Y.

Competitive pricing and performance

With a base price of $54,990, the Elroq 85 Select is positioned to undercut several key competitors, including

  • Volkswagen ID.4 Pro – $59,990
  • Tesla Model Y RWD – $58,990

Skoda Elroq matches the starting price of the BYD Sealion 7, while offering a European badge and notable performance.

Primary competitors

Both Elroq variants will feature a rear-mounted 210kW electric motor and an 82kWh (net) battery.
