The all-new 2026 BMW iX3 electric SUV will arrive in Australian showrooms from mid-2026, priced from $109,900 before on-road costs, bringing significant upgrades in technology, performance, and driving range.
The new model marks the debut of BMW’s Neue Klasse family of electric vehicles, featuring fresh exterior styling, a dedicated EV platform, and a dramatically redesigned interior headlined by a full-width digital projection display.
Compared with the outgoing model, the launch iX3 50 xDrive is $5000 more expensive than the previous flagship iX3 M Sport Pro, and $18,900 more than the former base M Sport variant, which previously qualified for Fringe Benefits Tax exemptions for EVs.
2026 BMW iX3 50 xDrive pricing
The new iX3 remains competitively priced against rivals such as the Audi Q6 e-tron quattro ($122,500) and Genesis Electrified GV70 ($132,800), while sitting about $3000 above the plug-in hybrid BMW X3 priced from $106,900.
| Variant | Price (before on-road) |
| BMW iX3 50 xDrive | $109,900 |
BMW Australia has also confirmed a more affordable rear-wheel-drive iX3 40 variant is expected to join the range in early 2027.
Neue Klasse technology and longer driving range
The second-generation iX3 introduces BMW’s latest electric architecture and technology suite, including the new Panoramic Vision dashboard projection spanning the width of the windscreen. Power comes from a dual-motor all-wheel-drive system producing 345kW and 645Nm, paired with a 108.7kWh battery pack.
BMW claims a maximum WLTP driving range of up to 805km, making the iX3 the longest-range electric car currently available in Australia, depending on specification.
With the standard 20-inch Style 1048 M wheels, overseas configurators indicate a 793km WLTP range with the M Sport package. Switching to the aerodynamic Style 1047 M wheels increases this to 802km, while the largest 22-inch wheels reduce range to around 737km.
Performance figures include:
- 0–100km/h: 4.9 seconds
- Top speed: 210km/h
This represents a significant improvement over the previous iX3, which featured a single rear-mounted electric motor producing 210kW and 400Nm, an 80kWh battery, and a 460km WLTP driving range.
Faster charging capability
Charging performance has also been significantly improved. The new iX3 supports 400kW DC fast charging, enabling a 10–80 per cent charge in around 21 minutes under ideal conditions.
For home charging, the SUV includes 22kW AC charging, allowing a full charge from empty in approximately five hours and 30 minutes.
