Australian pricing and specifications for the updated GWM Ora electric hatchback have now been revealed. For 2026, the small EV introduces a new battery pack and upgraded features across the range. Despite these updates, pricing remains competitive, keeping the GWM Ora positioned as one of the most affordable electric cars on sale locally.

Pricing and line-up
Three main variants of the GWM Ora will be offered for 2026, with drive-away pricing starting from $35,990. A limited-run special edition will also be available in restricted numbers.

Model | Price (Drive-away) | Claimed Range (WLTP) |
GWM Ora Lux | $35,990 | 400km |
GWM Ora Ultra (Limited Aurora Green run) | $37,990 | 400km |
GWM Ora GT | $38,990 | 380km |
The starting price for the new Ora Lux remains unchanged compared to the old Standard Range model, although the outgoing version has been offered at lower promotional prices in recent months.
New battery, revised performance

A significant change for the 2026 Ora is the adoption of a 57.7kWh lithium-iron phosphate (LFP) battery pack developed by GWM’s battery arm, SVOLT. This replaces the previously available smaller 48kWh and larger 62kWh packs.

Production moves to Thailand
Unlike earlier versions sourced from China, the GWM Ora will now be produced at GWM’s plant in Rayong, Thailand. The factory has a long history in the Australian market, having previously built the Holden Colorado ute and Trailblazer SUV before being acquired by GWM in 2020.
This makes the GWM Ora the first Chinese-brand vehicle sold in Australia to be manufactured outside its home country. The move reflects Thailand’s increasing role as a regional hub for car production, particularly for models targeting markets such as Australia.
Arrival in showrooms
Deliveries of the 2026 GWM Ora are expected to begin in the coming weeks. With pricing starting from $35,990 drive-away, the GWM Ora continues to provide an accessible entry point to electric vehicle ownership in Australia, while offering more range, features, and a broader production story than before.
