The 2026 GWM Tank 300 Plug-In Hybrid Electric Vehicle (PHEV) is set to arrive next month, combining a PHEV powertrain with serious off-roading capabilities.
Priced from $55,990 drive-away under a limited-time launch offer, the GWM Tank 300 PHEV will be offered in Lux and Ultra grades, matching the existing diesel line-up and keeping both variants under the $60,000 drive-away mark.
The Tank 300 PHEV becomes GWM’s 5th plug-in hybrid model launched in Australia within 12 months, following the H6 GT, Cannon Alpha, H6, and Tank 500, with more electrified models expected later this year.

The GWM Tank 300 PHEV also retains the 3000kg braked towing capacity offered across the petrol, diesel and hybrid range.
Off-road hybrid system retains mechanical 4×4
Unlike many plug-in hybrids that switch to electric-only all-wheel drive, the Tank 300 PHEV uses GWM’s Hi4-T off-road hybrid system, which retains a traditional mechanical four-wheel-drive set-up.
Key off-road hardware includes:

- Front and rear locking differentials
This makes the GWM Tank 300 PHEV one of the few plug-in hybrids in the segment designed for serious off-road capability.

Thanks to its sizeable 37.1kWh battery, the GWM Tank 300 PHEV offers up to 105km of electric-only driving range under the NEDC test cycle.

- Vehicle-to-load (V2L) external power (up to 6kW), ideal for camping or off-grid use

Arrival timing in Australia
GWM Australia has confirmed the Tank 300 Ultra PHEV will arrive first, with deliveries expected in March, followed by the Lux PHEV in April.
