The Hyundai Tucson mid-size SUV range has undergone a shake-up for 2026, reducing the number of engines and variants while lowering prices across the board.

The line-up has been reduced from 17 variants to just nine. With a focus on the hybrid powertrains to compete with the Toyota RAV4, Hyundai Australia has axed the 1.6-litre turbo-petrol four-cylinder from the Tuscon, following its removal from the smaller Kona SUV. That leaves buyers with only two choices: a naturally aspirated 2.0-litre petrol, or a 1.6-litre turbo-petrol hybrid. If you want all-wheel drive, the hybrid is now your only option.

Other colours include Amazon Grey, Cashmere Bronze, Deep Sea, Phantom Black, Shimmering Silver, Titan Grey, White Cream, Ultimate Red (N Line only), and Pine Green Matte.

All colour options cost $595 extra, except for White Cream (no additional cost) and Pine Green Matte ($1,000).

2026 Hyundai Tuscon engines

Apart from the scrapped turbo-petrol, the rest of the mechanical package remains familiar for the 2026 Hyundai Tucson. The naturally-aspirated petrol engine is the more affordable entry point, but the hybrid delivers better performance and efficiency, along with the option of AWD.

Subtle equipment changes

The 2026 Hyundai Tucson doesn’t receive a major design refresh, but there are some notable tweaks worth mentioning. All models now feature the Digital Key, which allows owners to unlock and start the car using a compatible smartphone. The base model also transitions from 18-inch alloys to smaller 17-inch wheels. Beyond that, the equipment largely remains the same as in 2025.

Size and practicality

Dimensions remain unchanged, with the Hyundai Tucson measuring 4640mm in length (4650mm in N Line trim), 1865mm in width, and 1665mm in height, featuring a 2755mm wheelbase.

Cargo space is slightly more generous in the hybrid:

  • Petrol: 539L (seats up) / 1860L (folded)
  • Hybrid: 582L (seats up) / 1903L (folded)

Servicing and warranty

The Hyundai Tucson remains covered by Hyundai’s five-year, unlimited-kilometre warranty.

  • Petrol: service intervals every 12 months/15,000km
  • Hybrid: every 12 months/10,000km
  • 2025 capped-price servicing ranges between $348 and $578 per visit, depending on engine and interval

Safety

The Hyundai Tucson still carries its five-star ANCAP safety rating from 2021. New for 2026 are second-row pretensioner seatbelts.

Standard safety kit includes:

  • 7 airbags (including front-centre)
  • AEB with pedestrian, cyclist and junction assist
  • Adaptive cruise control with stop/go
  • Lane-keep assist and lane centring
  • Blind-spot and rear cross-traffic assist
  • Reversing camera and parking sensors
  • Safe exit warning, tyre pressure monitoring, and Bluelink connected services

The Tucson’s Elite and Premium trims add navigation-based cruise control and Highway Driving Assist. At the same time, Premium models gain extras such as a surround-view camera, rear AEB and blind-spot view monitor.

Grades and features

Hyundai now offers the Tucson in three primary trim levels: Tucson, Elite, and Premium. The base-spec Hyundai Tucson comes well-equipped with modern essentials, making it a strong entry point in the range. Key highlights include:

  • 17-inch alloys
  • Digital Key (new)
  • LED headlights & tail-lights
  • 12.3-inch infotainment with OTA updates
  • Wireless Apple CarPlay/Android Auto
  • Wireless charging, 4x USB-C, 6 speakers
  • Cloth trim, leather wheel & shifter
  • Bluelink connected services

Stepping up to the Elite trim adds a layer of luxury and convenience with upgraded tech and comfort features, such as:

Hyundai Tucson interior
  • 18-inch alloys
  • Leather-appointed seats (heated fronts)
  • 12.3-inch digital instrument cluster
  • Satellite navigation
  • Dual-zone climate control
  • Keyless entry & remote start
  • Rain-sensing wipers
  • Paddle shifters (on hybrid variant only)
  • Highway driving assist
  • Heated front seats and steering wheel
  • Power-adjustable driver’s seat
  • Powered tailgate

For those who want the full package, the Premium grade tops the lineup with advanced features and premium finishes that elevate the Hyundai Tucson into near-luxury territory. It includes:

  • 19-inch alloys
  • Panoramic glass sunroof
  • Bose 8-speaker audio
  • Head-up display
  • Ambient lighting
  • Ventilated front seats, heated rears
  • Surround-view monitor
  • Power-adjustable front passenger seat
  • 360-degree camera
  • Side parking sensors

An N Line package is available across much of the range, adding sportier bumpers, a unique grille, suede/leather trim and 19-inch wheels.

With Hyundai’s decision to simplify the Hyundai Tucson range, the focus now shifts to value and efficiency rather than performance. For buyers, the updated 2026 lineup means fewer choices but potentially better clarity when comparing trims and prices.
