What’s next for the Jaecoo J5 EV in Australia?

The 2026 J5 EV is based on the same platform as the Chery E5 and is set to become one of the cheapest small electric SUVs in Australia. Later on in the year, Jaecoo will also introduce turbo-petrol and hybrid versions, which will be positioned below the J5 EV in the lineup.

The compact J5 electric SUV will compete with small electric SUVs such as the BYD Atto 2, Leapmotor B10, MG S5 EV, Kia EV3, Hyundai Kona Electric, and Zeekr X. Here BYD Atto 2 is the cheapest with prices starting from AU$31,990 (drive away), while all others are costlier than the J5 EV, with Zeekr X being the priciest in this list.
In Australia, the 2026 J5 EV will mark the Omoda Jaecoo’s fourth model launch, following the Jaecoo J7, J8, and the Omoda 9.
