Kia Australia has confirmed pricing and fresh powertrain updates for the 2026 Kia K4, now offered with a new hatchback alongside the existing sedan. Both body styles are due in showrooms this month, giving buyers a wider spread of grades to pick from:  S, Sport, Sport+, and the flagship GT-Line.

Kia K4 hatchback joins the range

Kia is adding a hatchback body style to the K4 moniker for the first time, giving buyers an alternative to the sedan that offers better headroom in the back without changing the familiar grade line-up. The biggest difference of course will be the boot space – 508 litres for the sedan and 438 litres for the hatchback.

The K4 hatchback arrives in S, Sport, Sport+ and GT-Line variants, with the S also available with an optional Safety Pack. With this new hatchback body type, the Kia K4 is a stronger rival to the Toyota Corolla than before.

Kia K4 powertrain updates

Kia has tweaked the engines for most MY26 K4 variants, focusing on improving efficiency and everyday drivability.

New 2.0L Atkinson-cycle engine

The S, Sport, and Sport+ grades in both body styles for the Kia K4 now share a new 2.0L petrol engine paired with a new automatic transmission. It replaces the familiar but dated 2.0L MPI four-cylinder petrol and 6-speed auto combination that was offered when the Kia K4 arrived in Australia as a sedan-only offering.

  • 2.0L MPI Atkinson-cycle petrol engine
  • Continuously Variable Transmission (CVT)
  • Improved fuel efficiency
  • Reduced CO₂ emissions
