Mazda has revealed Australian pricing and specifications for its upcoming 6e electric sedan, confirming a sharp starting price of $49,990 before on-road costs ahead of first local deliveries in July 2026.

The aggressive pricing positions the Chinese-built Mazda 6e as one of the most affordable electric vehicles from a mainstream brand, undercutting the entry-level Tesla Model 3 by around $5000 and sitting close to the BYD Seal, currently priced from $46,990 before on-road costs.

At this price point, the Mazda 6e delivers a compelling combination of performance, range, and equipment. Power comes from a rear-mounted electric motor producing 190kW and 290Nm, paired with a 78kWh lithium-iron phosphate (LFP) battery, providing a WLTP-rated driving range of 560km.

By comparison, the base BYD Seal Dynamic offers 150kW/310Nm and a 61kWh battery for 460km of range, while the most affordable Tesla Model 3 delivers 208kW, a 62.5kWh battery, and a claimed 520km range.

Mazda 6e prices & offers

As a launch incentive, the first 300 customers who pre-order a Mazda 6e will receive a complimentary upgrade to the Atenza specification, effectively saving $3000.

VariantsPrice (Before on-road costs)
Mazda 6e GT$49,990
Mazda 6e Atenza$52,990

Above the GT sits the 6e Atenza, priced at $52,990 before on-road costs, which adds a tan leather and synthetic suede interior for a more premium feel.

The only standalone option available for the GT is a beige interior, priced at $1000.

Familiar pricing, new powertrain

Mazda Australia has closely aligned the 6e’s pricing with the now-discontinued petrol-powered Mazda 6 sedan, which previously retailed from $49,190 for the GT SP and $52,590 for the Atenza before on-road costs.

However, unlike its predecessor, the Mazda 6e is built in China by Changan Automobile, the parent company of the Deepal brand. Despite this, Mazda Australia says the 6e is fully supported by its five-year, unlimited-kilometre warranty and around 150-strong dealer network nationwide.

Mazda 6e performance & electric range

The Mazda 6e features a CCS Type-2 charging port supporting DC fast charging at up to 194kW, enabling a 30–80 per cent recharge in as little as 15 minutes, placing it among the quicker-charging EVs in its class.

Mazda says this combination of long driving range and fast-charging capability makes the 6e well-suited to Australian driving conditions and long-distance travel.
