The Mitsubishi Outlander Plug-in Hybrid (PHEV) will return to Australian showrooms in early 2026 with updates aimed at improving performance, efficiency, and comfort. The latest version of Mitsubishi’s popular electrified SUV features a larger drive battery, more powerful motors, and locally tuned suspension designed to better suit Australian roads.
Larger battery, more range
A new 22.7kWh lithium-ion battery sits at the heart of the 2026 update for the Mitsubishi Outlander, extending WLTP-certified electric range to 86 kilometres. The hybrid setup combines two electric motors with a 2.4-litre petrol engine, which can drive the front wheels or operate as a generator based on driving conditions. According to Mitsubishi, the revised system offers higher performance and efficiency than before.
Australian-tuned dynamics & refinement
To better suit local roads, ride and handling for the updated Mitsubishi family SUV have been recalibrated with input from Mitsubishi’s Australian engineering team. The suspension and steering updates, first developed for the petrol-powered Outlander, are now used globally across the model range. The model also adopts a steel bonnet and front fenders to reduce cabin noise and vibration, while new Bridgestone tyres are designed to enhance grip and ride quality.
Inside, the Outlander PHEV gains the Yamaha Dynamic Sound audio system, upgraded interior materials, and enhanced driver assistance technologies across the range.
