Mitsubishi Motors Australia has revealed pricing and specifications for the updated 2026 Outlander plug-in hybrid electric vehicle (PHEV), which is now arriving in showrooms across Australia.

The refreshed medium SUV brings major upgrades to battery capacity, range, performance, ride comfort and technology, along with Australia-tuned suspension and steering. The lineup starts at $58,990 (before on-road costs), which is $1,700 more than the outgoing trim.

The upgraded PHEV SUV enters the competitive segment, competing with the likes of BYD Sealion 6, MG HS Super Hybrid, Geely Starray EM-i, GWM Haval H6 GT PHEV, and Mazda CX-60 P50e.

Pricing and variants

VariantPricing (before on-road costs)

Mitsubishi Outlander PHEV Exceed Tourer (5-seat)$74,490

The new PHEV range has seen price increases between $1,700 and $3,000 compared to the outgoing Outlander model, attributed to the larger battery, improved range, and upgraded interior.

Powertrain and performance details

A major 2026 upgrade is the new, larger battery pack and improved plug-in hybrid system. The petrol engine in the refreshed Outlander can either act as a generator to recharge the battery or send power directly to the front wheels. And despite the improved electric range, the performance has also increased.

Suspension and steering tuned for Australia

Mitsubishi says ride and handling have been developed specifically for Australian conditions. It gets updates that include:

  • Recalibrated front and rear shock absorbers
  • Smaller front anti-roll bar
  • Updated electric power steering (EPS) mapping

One-pedal driving function added

A new “Innovative Pedal Operation” feature allows drivers to accelerate and slow the car using just the accelerator pedal, making drives more convenient. The brake pedal is still required for stronger braking or when stopping completely.

Adjustable regenerative braking

The updated Outlander PHEV also allows drivers to control regenerative braking using steering-wheel paddles. There are six regeneration levels available.

Four EV driving modes

Drivers can choose between four different EV modes, accessible through the centre console. ‘Normal’ mode automatically switches between electric and hybrid drive depending on battery charge and power demand.

‘EV Priority mode’ keeps the car in pure electric driving. ‘Save mode’ maintains the current battery charge level for later use. ‘Charge’ mode uses the engine as a generator to recharge the battery while driving.
