The 2026 Nissan Navara has made its global debut, introducing substantial Australia-specific suspension tuning, upgraded technology, and a bolder front-end design ahead of its Australian launch in March 2026.

2026 Nissan Navara

The new Nissan Navara shares its ladder-frame platform, diesel engine and body structure with the latest Mitsubishi Triton, but Nissan says it has been locally tuned, with additional Australian chassis work by Premcar, to ensure it feels distinct behind the wheel.

Chassis and suspension tuning

The previous-generation D23 Nissan Navara struggled with rear suspension sag and ride comfort, issues Nissan is determined to bury with the D27 model. The new model is internally code-named D27, replacing the long-running D23 generation sold since 2015.

Key suspension upgrades

  • Return to leaf springs:
    • 3-leaf or HD 4-leaf configurations
  • New Australian-developed dampers, tested across:
    • 18,000km of outback corrugations
    • Urban stop-start traffic
    • Heavy-load conditions
  • Larger-diameter dampers with internal rebound springs
  • Retuned steering for a more linear, predictable response

Premcar tested 870 damper codes and 550 shim combinations, underscoring the scale of the project.

Nissan Navara exterior design

Although the 2026 Nissan Navara shares its metalwork with the Triton, its front-end redesign gives it a unique identity.

Design highlights

  • Bold bull bar–inspired V-strut grille
  • Three-slot top grille referencing the 1985 D21 Navara
  • C-shaped interlocking LED headlights
  • New taillamp signatures inspired by Japanese carpentry
  • Larger, more assertive stance than the outgoing model

Nissan’s designers say they aimed for a ute that appears tough enough for work sites but polished enough for family use.

Dimensions and practicality

The 2026 Nissan Navara is longer and wider than before, increasing stability and cabin room.

Warranty and servicing

2026 Nissan Navara

The 2026 Nissan Navara will be backed by a substantial ownership package, offering up to 10 years or 300,000km of warranty coverage, provided the vehicle is serviced within Nissan’s dealer network. Owners also receive five years of capped-price servicing, helping keep running costs predictable, along with up to 10 years of roadside assistance for added peace of mind throughout long-term ownership.

Key takeaways for buyers

The 2026 Nissan Navara gives buyers a tougher, more powerful and more spacious ute, with a stronger 2.4-litre twin-turbo diesel engine, better off-road tech, improved towing stability and the reassurance of up to 10 years of warranty and roadside assistance. The longer tray, higher ground clearance and upgraded 4WD systems make it far more capable, while the simplified lineup makes choosing a grade easier.

However, there are a few trade-offs: the loss of a manual gearbox, an Australian pallet still not fitting in the tub, a likely rise in pricing, fewer niche variants due to the streamlined range, and some more clarity around the final specs of the upcoming Nissan Warrior production model is needed. Overall, buyers get a more refined and rugged Nissan Navara, but with a couple of compromises to be aware of.
