Skoda is updating its Kodiaq Select and Octavia Select models with a new 1.5-litre turbo petrol mild-hybrid (mHEV) powertrain. A mild hybrid car (MHEV) combines a traditional petrol engine with a small electric motor and battery for better fuel economy. Both cars will go on sale in Australia in early 2026, with pricing to be announced closer to launch.

The 2026 Kodiaq large SUV range offers 4 different trims of Select mHEV, Select PHEV, Sportline and the flagship Kodiaq RS. The new Octavia sedan/wagon range has been reduced to Select mHEV and RS models. Both the Skoda range now offer a luxury add-on with a Signature Package.

Škoda product manager Aline Carrullo says buyers can now clearly choose between:

  • mHEV Select and PHEV Select variants for efficiency and comfort
  • Sportline and RS for performance and all-wheel drive

The mHEV has improved the Kodiaq’s fuel efficiency compared to the outgoing 140TSI Select. The Kodiaq mHEV Select also gets new wheels and switches from leather seats to cloth upholstery. An optional Signature Package will add the “Suite leather interior” in black or cognac, Intelligent Park Assist, Area View, power-adjustable front seats with memory and massage, Virtual Pedal and a premium CANTON audio system.
