Toyota has released the first official look at the interior of the upcoming sixth-generation RAV4, confirming its scheduled global reveal on 21st May. The preview images, published by Toyota Europe, reveal significant updates to the Toyota RAV4 SUV cabin layout and controls, with an emphasis on a more modern and substantial design direction.

Dashboard and driver interface updates

The teasers show the upper section of the dashboard and steering wheel. The dashboard features a boxier, more sculpted appearance than the current RAV4. The steering wheel adopts squared-off spokes, fitted with larger, more accessible buttons for improved usability.

The digital instrument cluster sits flush without a traditional hood or binnacle, and a noticeably larger infotainment screen rests independently at the centre of the dashboard, suggesting a move towards a cleaner, more open layout. It certainly brings the RAV4 cabin up-to-date with the current design philosophies offered by rivals.

Redesigned centre console and interior layout

Another teaser image reveals a redesigned centre console that flows seamlessly into the centre tunnel. Toyota has replaced the previous climate control knobs with sleeker alternatives, and the cupholders have been repositioned along the central spine of the console. Its conventional gear shifter has been swapped for a minimalist Porsche-style toggle switch.

New seat patterns and reworked door cards are also visible, further underlining the comprehensive cabin overhaul for the 2026 RAV4.

Exterior teasers and design expectations

Although Toyota has also released a few teaser shots of the exterior, these images are captured from a bird’s eye view, obscuring finer details. However, recent spy photography and leaked images from China have shed more light on the upcoming RAV4’s exterior styling.

The front end is expected to adopt new C-shaped headlight clusters, reminiscent of those found on the latest Toyota Camry. The rear is believed to feature full-width tail-light treatment, giving the vehicle a more modern and cohesive look. The overall bodywork reportedly incorporates sharper creases and bolder details on the family-centric Toyota RAV4 SUV.

Sales performance remains strong

The RAV4 continues to dominate in several key markets. In Australia, the RAV4 remains the top-selling vehicle year-to-date as of April, with 17,610 units sold, placing it just ahead of the Ford Ranger (17,257) and Toyota HiLux (15,120).
