2027 Cadillac Lyriq EV priced; gets more torque and efficiency

The 2027 Cadillac Lyriq EV will continue in Australia with just one variant, the Sport AWD, at the same $90,000 starting price, but it gains more torque and quicker acceleration while losing battery capacity, driving range and DC charging speed.

The flagship Lyriq-V is structured to join the local lineup down the road and will serve as the premier, low-volume performance anchor for the range. Buyers can expect deliveries of the all-electric 2027 Cadillac Lyriq SUV between late 2026 and early 2027.

The Cadillac Lyriq Sport mainly competes with premium, large-size electric SUVs such as BMW iX xDrive40, Audi Q8 e-tron, and Mercedes-Benz EQE SUV.

Smaller battery and shorter range

The 2027 Lyriq drops the previous Luxury trim in Australia and gets an updated dual-motor All-Wheel Drive system, which delivers increased torque and quicker acceleration, but moves to a slightly smaller battery setup, which results in a shorter range and slower charging.

Cadillac has reduced the nickel manganese cobalt (NMC) lithium-ion battery from 102kWh to 92kWh, cutting the WLTP driving range from 530km to 503km. DC charging capacity also falls from 190kW to 130kW.

The Lyriq’s quoted combined energy consumption improves from 22.5kWh/100km to 20.2kWh/100km to limit the range loss.

The American carmaker says the 2027 changes bring the Lyriq closer to the smaller Optiq and larger Vistiq. Australia and other markets such as Europe receive smaller batteries and slower DC charging systems than the US market because of Europe’s ECE Regulation 100.03.

The new 130kW fast charging can add up to 114km of range within 10 minutes, and the 22kW AC system can add up to 105km of range per hour.

Exterior: Darkened design theme

The 2027 Lyriq update focuses on darkened aesthetic treatments. Obsidian chrome trim replaces traditional bright work with dark glossy accents along the window surrounds, lower body moulding, and fascias.

It also gets a sport-specific, dark-tinted illuminated Black Crystal grille with custom geometric texturing. The Lyriq now runs on 21-inch Satin Dark Android alloy wheels with premium 275/45 self-sealing tyres and high-performance 390mm front fixed-calliper Brembo discs, and 345mm rear sliding-calliper discs.

Cadillac will offer five exterior colours: Stellar Black Metallic and Argent Silver Metallic as standard and Polar White Tricoat, Opulent Blue Metallic, and Radiant Red Tintcoat as optional.

Interior: more safety and cabin technology

The premium AKG Studio sound system in the Lyriq now uses 23 speakers, up from 19 previously, and adds Dolby Atmos capability. It also features these interior specs now:

In the safety suite, Lyriq removes the two front knee airbags, reducing the total airbag count to six and adds Lane centring and Traffic sign recognition.

The updated model also receives Cadillac Connected Services for 8 years and Cadillac Connected Services Plus for 3 years.

Pricing for the single Lyriq variant for 2027

Cadillac will offer the 2027 Lyriq Sport AWD as the sole variant in Australia, and it retains a starting price of $90,000 before on-road costs. The updated model brings changes to its electric powertrain and battery system, along with several equipment revisions.
