Key highlights:

  • Australian arrival scheduled for early 2027, priced at $105,700
  • Dual-motor AWD delivers 360kW, 800Nm and a claimed 753km range
  • Equipment includes MBUX Superscreen, panoramic glass roof and Burmester audio

The all-electric 2027 Mercedes-Benz C-Class will reach Australian showrooms in early 2027, bringing 360kW of power, 800Nm of torque and a claimed 753km driving range. The electric sedan will arrive here in one variant, priced at $105,700 before on-road costs.

It will compete directly with the upcoming BMW i3, sitting between its 40 xDrive and 50 xDrive variants on price, range and performance. The Mercedes has more power and torque than both BMWs, but its driving range falls short of the i3 50 xDrive.

Powertrain, charging and efficiency

The C400 combines two electric motors with an all-wheel-drive system, and its 94kWh usable nickel-manganese-cobalt (NMC) battery provides the energy, while an 800V electrical architecture supports fast charging.

Pricing and BMW i3 comparison

The C400 4Matic electric sits almost exactly halfway between the two BMW i3 variants on price, and both rivals are also due to arrive in Australia early in 2027. The new single-spec electric model will co-exist alongside a heavily updated petrol and plug-in hybrid (PHEV) C-Class range.

ModelPrice before on-road costs
Mercedes-Benz C400 4Matic electric$105,700
BMW i3 40 xDrive$96,900
BMW i3 50 xDrive$112,900

Here’s how the three electric sedans compare on performance and driving range.

Driving range (WLTP)753km566–710km912km

The Mercedes wins the power and torque contest against both BMWs, and its claimed 4.0-second sprint to 100km/h also makes it quicker than either rival.

Range tells a different story. The C400’s 753km claim beats the i3 40 xDrive’s maximum 710km figure, but the i3 50 xDrive stretches further to 912km.
