Nissan Australia has officially confirmed that the all-new 2027 Nissan Patrol will arrive in local showrooms in the first quarter of 2027, with customer orders set to open later this month.
The seventh-generation Y63 Nissan Patrol marks the biggest transformation of the iconic large SUV in years, replacing the long-serving V8 with a new 3.5-litre twin-turbocharged petrol V6, while introducing several firsts for the nameplate, including adaptive air suspension, biometric climate control, massage seats and a premium Klipsch audio system.
The announcement comes as the Patrol celebrates 75 years globally and more than six decades of Australian history, reinforcing Nissan’s commitment to one of the country’s best-known large four-wheel-drive wagons.
Steve Milette, Managing Director of Nissan Oceania, said the new Patrol builds on the model’s long-standing reputation while significantly raising the bar for performance, refinement and capability.
“For decades the Patrol has been a symbol of go-anywhere capability and trust, and it holds a special place with Australian customers. The all-new Y63 Patrol honours that heritage while taking a significant leap forward,” he said.
Twin-turbo V6 replaces the V8

One of the biggest changes for the 2027 Nissan Patrol Australia range is the introduction of an all-new 3.5-litre twin-turbocharged V6 petrol engine.
The new powertrain produces:
- 317kW of power
- 700Nm of torque
- Nine-speed automatic transmission
Compared with the outgoing naturally aspirated V8, the new engine delivers:
- 19kW more power (around six per cent increase)
- 140Nm more torque (approximately 25 per cent increase)
- Peak torque available earlier in the rev range for improved towing, overtaking and off-road performance.
The engine also incorporates technology inspired by the Nissan GT-R, including a scavenger oil pump that maintains lubrication during steep climbs and demanding off-road conditions.
New chassis and suspension technology
For the first time, selected Australian Patrol variants will feature Adaptive Air Suspension.
The system works alongside Nissan’s Intelligent Dynamic Damping (e-Damper) technology to automatically adjust ride height and suspension characteristics depending on driving conditions.
Key functions include:
- Increased ride height in Off-Road mode for improved approach, departure and breakover angles.
- Lower ride height when parked for easier passenger access and cargo loading.
- Automatic lowering above 90km/h to improve aerodynamic efficiency.
- Automatic height adjustment below 70km/h.
The new suspension setup is designed to improve both off-road capability and long-distance comfort.
Cabin receives major technology upgrade

The new-generation Patrol introduces one of the biggest cabin upgrades in the model’s history, with several features making their debut.
Highlights include:
Biometric Cooling
A first for both the Patrol and its segment, Biometric Cooling monitors occupants’ body temperature when entering the vehicle and automatically adjusts the climate control system after startup to improve cabin comfort.
Nissan says the technology has been designed with Australia’s hot climate in mind.
Monolith display
Select grades receive a new Monolith digital display incorporating:
- Dual 14.3-inch screens
- Infotainment
- Navigation
- Vehicle information
- Connected services
Head-Up Display
A Head-Up Display will also be available on selected grades, projecting key driving information directly into the driver’s field of view.
Premium comfort features added

The flagship SUV also moves further into premium territory with a range of luxury-focused additions.
These include:
- Front-seat massage function (select grades)
- First- and second-row Zero Gravity seats
- Improved long-distance comfort
- Premium cabin materials
The Zero Gravity seats are designed to improve posture and reduce fatigue on extended journeys.
Klipsch premium audio debuts
Another Patrol first is the availability of a 12-speaker Klipsch premium audio system.
Developed with Panasonic Automotive, the system features:
- 12 speakers
- 600-watt amplifier
- 12-channel architecture
- Custom tuning specifically for the Patrol cabin
Nissan says the setup has been engineered to deliver more immersive sound quality across all seating positions.
Built on 75 years of Patrol heritage
The Patrol nameplate first debuted in Japan in 1951, before arriving in Australia in 1961.
Over the past six decades, the Patrol has become one of Australia’s best-known full-size off-road SUVs, earning a reputation among touring enthusiasts, rural operators and towing customers for its durability and capability.
The all-new Y63 continues that legacy while introducing significant advances in powertrain technology, comfort and in-car technology.
Orders open this month; pricing still to come
Australian customers can now register their interest in the new Patrol ahead of orders opening later this month.
Nissan has confirmed:
- Orders open later in August 2026
- Australian showroom arrival in Q1 2027
- Customer deliveries begin during the first quarter of 2027
Local pricing, model grades, equipment lists and full Australian specifications will be announced closer to launch.
