Swedish carmaker Polestar has confirmed Australian pricing and specifications for the upgraded 2027 Polestar 3, ahead of its expected arrival in mid-2026. The flagship mid-size luxury electric SUV receives major upgrades, including a new 800V electrical system, improved performance, and more standard equipment.

The entry price has also been reduced. According to Polestar CEO Michael Lohscheller, the improvements are so significant that the updated model feels like a completely new car.

Pricing and variants

VariantPrice (before on-road costs)
Polestar 3 Rear Motor$116,700
Polestar 3 Dual Motor$131,100

The updated lineup introduces a simpler three-variant structure. The entry price for the 2027 Polestar 3 drops by $1,720. The Plus Pack, previously a $9,000 option, is now standard on all models.

Design differences between the three 2027 Polestar 3 variants include unique seatbelt colours:

  • Rear Motor – black
  • Dual Motor – black with Swedish gold stripe
  • Performance – full Swedish gold

Major technology upgrade

One of the biggest updates in the 2027 Polestar 3 is a new 800-volt electrical platform (previously 400V). The key benefits of this upgrade include:

  • Up to 350kW DC fast-charging
  • 10–80% charging in around 22 minutes
  • Charging speeds more than 25% faster
  • Up to 6% efficiency improvement (WLTP testing cycle)

The powertrain system also allows the use of new lithium-ion battery packs supplied by CATL.

This upgrade improves the vehicle’s ability to manage safety systems, battery performance, sensor data, and autonomous-driving technologies. Existing Polestar 3 owners will be offered a complimentary hardware retrofit to receive the new processor.
