The Ram 1500 TRX is coming back to Australia for 2027, now wearing the TRX SRT name and packing even more power, which makes it the world’s most powerful petrol-powered ute.
The high-performance American pickup will return as Ram Australia’s first Hemi V8-powered 1500 in more than two years, with a $259,950 starting price before on-road costs.
Ram Trucks Australia will convert the TRX SRT to right-hand drive for Australia, and this beast will arrive in local showrooms in the first half of 2027.
Price of the 2027 Ram 1500 TRX SRT
The new flagship TRX SRT ute’s price reflects its monster performance: the 2027 TRX SRT starts at $259,950 before on-road costs, a $10,000 increase over the previous Australian TRX Final Edition. It also costs exactly $100,000 more than the current range-topping Ram 1500 Limited with the Hurricane HO engine, priced at $159,950 before on-roads.
Australia’s most powerful full-size V8 pickup
The new TRX SRT uses a 6.2-litre supercharged Hemi V8. The upgraded TRX SRT produces more power than its arch-rival, the 530kW/868Nm Ford F-150 Raptor R and becomes the most powerful gas-powered production truck in the world.
It will also take the top spot among Australia’s full-size V8 pickups, replacing iconic local utes like the supercharged HSV Maloo or modern powerhouses like the Chevrolet Silverado 1500 (313kW) and Ford Ranger Raptor (292kW).

Ram has fitted the TRX SRT with Bilstein Blackhawk e2 adaptive dampers and uniquely tuned air suspension, which provides up to 355.6mm of wheel travel. The truck also uses a live rear axle. Its maximum payload reaches 554kg, while towing capacity stands at 3674kg.
Note: The figures mentioned here are for the US variant, as Australia hasn’t confirmed its final local performance figures yet.

The TRX SRT will remain a four-door Crew Cab with five seats and a 5’7″ pickup bed. Ram has made minor exterior changes as part of the facelifted 1500 range, but the TRX keeps its own aggressive identity.

Why did the V8 return?
Ram discontinued V8-powered 1500 models globally, including the TRX, as emissions standards tightened and Australia’s last V8 Ram 1500 received its local conversion from Walkinshaw Automotive in Melbourne in December 2024.
The TRX then made an unexpected comeback. Ram Trucks Australia says Ram Trucks USA revived the model under new management for North America in January 2026 and that revival created an opportunity for Australia.
Ram Trucks Australia general manager Jeff Barber said, “We know there is a lot of passion for the TRX in Australia, which is why we have worked hard to secure production out of the US for our market.”
Supply will remain tight initially because US demand has surged, but Ram says the factory has supported the Australian market and will supply the TRX locally.

The TRX SRT currently stands as the only V8 Ram officially confirmed for Australian showrooms, but Ram Trucks Australia has also expressed interest in the V8-powered Rumble Bee, revealed in June 2026. The company hasn’t confirmed it for Australia.
The same applies to the larger Ram 2500 Warlock, which uses a 305kW/582Nm 6.4-litre Apache V8 and received Australian Design Rule certification earlier this month.
If Ram brings both models here, Australia could have three V8 Ram models on sale next year.
