Australia’s new-car market recorded its strongest performance of the year in September 2025, with 106,891 vehicles delivered, a 7% increase compared with the same month last year, according to the Federal Chamber of Automotive Industries (FCAI) and the Electric Vehicle Council (EVC).

Ford Ranger

The Toyota HiLux returned to the top of the sales charts with, followed closely by the Ford Ranger. Meanwhile, the Tesla Model Y ranked third as the top-selling SUV of the month, with its highest monthly total since March 2024 and a 162% year-on-year increase.

Chinese-made vehicles continued to make strong gains, with the Chery Tiggo 4 and BYD Sealion 7 entering the top 10 for the first time. Last month, the Ford Ranger held the number-one spot.
