BYD is expanding its Australian lineup beyond the budget-focused Atto 1 with the new BYD Atto 2, a compact SUV designed to compete in one of the country’s most hotly contested vehicle segments. Pricing and availability
BYD Australia COO Stephen Collins highlighted the BYD Atto 2’s combination of space, technology, and comfort as “real value for money.” Orders open mid-November, coinciding with the official Australian launch, and deliveries are expected in early 2026.
Rivals and more

Stephen Collins, BYD Australia’s COO, emphasised the “sheer level of technology and innovative features” as a key value proposition. The BYD Atto 2’s success will depend on how its final pricing and real-world performance stack up against established rivals like the MG ZS EV, Hyundai Kona Electric, and the ever-popular Tesla Model Y.
BYD has opened expressions of interest for both the ATTO 1 and BYD Atto 2, with orders officially opening in mid-November. The automotive market will be watching closely to see whether BYD’s dual-pronged attack, with a budget city car and a tech-laden compact SUV, can further shake up Australia’s evolving EV landscape.
