BYD’s premium sub-brand, Denza, has launched an all-electric luxury people mover, the Denza D9. The Chinese carmaker says the Denza D9 marks another important milestone for the brand in Australia.
The luxury MPV starts from $85,990 (before on-road costs) and is available in two powertrain variants (FWD and AWD). It rivals the Kia Carnival, Mercedes-Benz EQV, Zeekr 009, LDV Mifa 9, and Lexus LM in its segment.

The Denza D9 is built on BYD’s e-Platform 3.0, designed specifically for EVs. This is the world’s first mass-produced 8-in-1 powertrain system. The MPV also has the vehicle-to-load (V2L) capability and an optimised thermal management system.
Suspension and ride quality
The AWD version includes BYD’s DiSus-C adaptive suspension system. It uses electronically controlled dampers and sensors to reduce pitch and body roll and improve ride comfort.

In terms of size, it is a large luxury people mover. It features a 2+2+3 three-row seating layout for seven passengers. Even with seven passengers, it can carry seven pieces of airline carry-on luggage.
The front design of this people mover is inspired by the mathematical symbol π (pi). The exterior highlights include:

Interior and comfort

The cabin focuses on luxury and comfort. The seats are made of Nappa leather, complemented by open-pore white ash wood trim, soft-touch materials, ambient lighting, and a suede roofliner (AWD grade).
The second row has captain’s chairs with ventilation, massage function, power leg rests, 4-way lumbar adjustment, memory settings, and a 5.5-inch armrest control screen.
Technology and connectivity

The D9 includes a 15.6-inch infotainment screen, a 10.25-inch digital instrument cluster, and a 12-inch head-up display. It also has 4-zone voice control with over-the-air (OTA) update capability. It also features a dual-mode fridge and hotbox with cooling from –6°C to 6°C and heating up to 50°C.
Sound and cabin quietness
The D9 features a 14-speaker, 420-watt Dynaudio sound system, tuned in Denmark. Its cabin noise is rated at 64.8 dB at 120 km/h. Noise reduction is achieved through the double-layer acoustic glass, suspension tuning, and acoustic insulation.
