Kia may have dropped a hint about the future launch of an electric Kia Stinger replacement when it revealed the Vision Meta Turismo. The all-electric four-door grand tourer (GT ) concept was unveiled in December 2025 at the brand’s 80th anniversary celebrations in South Korea.
The Kia Stinger seems likely because it proved Kia could make exciting performance cars. A replacement could bring that same driver-focused attitude into Kia’s electric era, but it won’t launch unless the brand sees enough consumer demand.
Kia Stinger’s possible electric replacement

Kia’s futuristic electric concept car, Vision Meta Turismo, may preview a future electric replacement for the Kia Stinger (mid-size performance sedan). While no production model has been confirmed, Kia designers have acknowledged that the idea is under serious consideration. However, Kia has not confirmed any launch timeline, indicating the project is still at an early, exploratory stage.
Kia’s European head of design, Oliver Samson, reportedly said (to Autocar) the company is open to turning the Vision Meta Turismo into a production car. However, a production version is not guaranteed, as consumer demand will determine whether the car moves forward on the production line. Samson’s comments were made in a European context, and it remains unclear which global markets—if any—would be prioritised if the car reaches production.

Why does the Kia Stinger still matter to Kia?

The Kia Stinger was not a big sales success, but it was important for the brand. It gave Kia a bold, eye-catching design, rear-wheel-drive performance, and a more premium and sporty image. The Stinger showed Kia could build cars focused on driving enjoyment, not just practicality. The Kia Stinger was not a big sales success, but it was important for the brand. The petrol-powered Kia Stinger is a 5-door liftback and looks like a traditional 4-door sedan. The flagship 3.3L twin-turbo V6 engine for the GT variants delivers roughly 365–368 HP and a 0–100 km/h time of approximately 4.9 seconds. Production for the Kia Stinger officially concluded in 2023 as Kia shifted its performance focus toward electric models like the EV6 GT.

How the potential performance EV may fit into Kia’s lineup
If the Vision Meta Turismo becomes a real performance electric car, it would likely sit at the top of Kia’s EV range. Like the larger Kia EV6 and EV9, it may use an 800V electric platform and be positioned as a high-performance flagship sedan focusing on style, speed, and driving engagement. The concept points toward a four-door grand tourer or fastback-style body, broadly mirroring the Stinger’s liftback silhouette rather than a traditional sedan.
Such a model would place Kia in direct competition with performance-focused electric sedans like the Tesla Model 3 Performance and BMW i4, making customer expectations and pricing critical factors.
Possible names for this car could be Kia EV7 or EV8. These names have not been confirmed by Kia and remain speculative at this stage.
There is also no confirmation that a Stinger-replacing electric model would be offered in Australia, despite the original Stinger being sold locally.
