Australians can now purchase a fully electric and road-legal version of the classic Mini Moke, developed by Melbourne-based EV conversion company Jaunt Motors. The electric Moke is available for customer commission ahead of delivery in 2026, with prices starting from an eye-watering $140,000, excluding the cost of the donor vehicle.

Powertrain details
Jaunt Motors’ electric Moke is powered by a 72 kW front-mounted motor that produces 175 Nm of torque. A 19kWh battery, mounted under the body, supports a 400-volt architecture, allowing for a full charge in two to three hours. It also features regenerative braking, which helps recover energy and enhances overall efficiency.

While its outputs are modest, the Moke can accelerate from 0–100km/h in just seven seconds, even uphill, thanks to its lightweight design.
Road-ready and fully compliant
The electric Moke is engineered to meet Australian Design Rules (ADR), allowing it to be registered in every state and territory.
Upgrades include:
- Revised braking, steering and suspension systems
- ADR-compliant seats with seatbelts
- Roll bar system with a canvas roof
- Modernised 12V electrical system
- New centre dash panel with digital displays
- Electric parking brake and pop-up charge port

According to Jaunt CEO Dave Budge, the electric Moke is designed to retain the original’s charm while addressing its shortcomings. “Classic cars are charming, but they’re also unreliable and harder to maintain,” Budge said. “What we’re doing isn’t about reinventing the car. It’s about keeping what was great and fixing everything that wasn’t.” He added that the EV platform has been fully engineered and tested to meet compliance and safety standards, and is intended to last another 50 years.
EV conversion platform for workshops

In addition to offering complete builds, Jaunt is making its Moke EV conversion platform available to independent auto workshops across Australia.
- Trade pricing starts from $90,000
- Includes installation training and technical documentation
- Designed for businesses looking to offer compliant electric Moke conversions
Why you can’t have the original

Moke International also has an electric Moke in the lineup, available in the UK and priced at around $69,500 AUD, including taxes and delivery. That version has been approved for limited sales in the UK, EU, and US, but its Australian release has yet to be confirmed.
The company is still exploring the possibility of ultra-low-volume imports into Australia, with its luxury resorts, expected to be a key target market for short-term rentals and shuttle services.
Conclusion
With its focus on safety, compliance, and preserving the character of a beloved classic, Jaunt Motors’ electric Mini Moke gives the iconic vehicle a new lease on life. While its premium pricing may limit it to enthusiasts and niche buyers, the launch reflects growing interest in classic EV conversions and positions Jaunt as a leader in this emerging segment in Australia.
