The long-discussed all-electric Ferrari was originally expected to debut later this year, however, that’s not to be the case. Ferrari has revised its timeline for the unveiling of its first all-electric vehicle, confirming that only the powertrain will be shown this year, with the full vehicle reveal now scheduled for 2026.

Revised reveal timeline

During Ferrari’s Capital Markets Day on 5 February in Maranello, CEO Benedetto Vigna initially announced plans to reveal the EV on 9 October 2025. However, it has since been clarified that this date will only see the debut of the car’s “technological heart”, referring specifically to its electric powertrain.

The three stage global launch will continue with the reveal of the interior, and conclude with the full exterior design being unveiled between March and May 2026. First customer deliveries are now slated for October 2026.

What we know.

While the production version remains under wraps, test prototypes have been spotted outside Maranello. These mules are adorned in a mix of Ferrari and Maserati body parts with fake exhaust tips and sounds to conceal as much of its true nature as possible.

The Ferrari EV model is expected to introduce a new four-door body style, likely resembling a liftback or shooting brake, different from the current Ferrari Purosangue SUV that features a naturally-aspirated V12. Ferrari has yet to confirm final specifications or the model name. What is certain is that the electric offering from Maranello intends to stay true to the brand’s performance roots, so expect driving thrills to be prioritised over outright range and practicality.

New Ferrari EV range?

The electric model will join Ferrari’s expanding lineup of electrified vehicles, including the plug-in hybrid 296 GTB/GTS and SF90 Stradale. However, the launch coincides with waning demand for high-end EVs, prompting several brands, such as Maserati, to delay or cancel upcoming electric models. Meanwhile, Chinese carmakers are only just entering the foray of high-performance EVs like the BYD Denza Z and BYD Yangwang U9.

Ferrari has indicated the new EV will be a low-volume offering initially, projected to account for around five per cent of its global sales in 2026. With these projections, it is safe to assume Ferrari’s EV is not going for hypercar territory occupied by the likes of Rimac and Lotus.

What’s next for Ferrari?

Ferrari has confirmed that six new models will debut in 2025. The first of these—the 296 Speciale, a sharper version of its rear-wheel drive hybrid—was unveiled in April. It was showcased in both hardtop and convertible forms. The remaining models remain unconfirmed, these could include a Purosangue PHEV, a Roma replacement, and potentially an Icona series limited edition.

With its first EV on the horizon and a raft of new performance-focused models in development, Ferrari is carefully balancing innovation with tradition as it enters a new era.
