Fiat has issued a safety recall for its Ducato Series 2 vans (model years 2024-2025), following a software defect that may prevent the Automatic Emergency Braking system (AEB) from reactivating when toggled off and on during the same ignition cycle.

What’s the defect, and why is it so serious?

According to the official recall notice (reference REC-006407), the AEB may not reactivate once it has been manually switched off and then back on or within the same drive session. Additionally, the AEB warning icon may fail to illuminate, potentially leaving drivers unaware that the safety system is disabled – raising the likelihood of collisions without automatic braking intervention.

Which vehicles are affected?

  • Make: Fiat
  • Model: Ducato Series 2
  • Model Years: 2024–2025
  • Variants: All
  • Total Affected Units in Australia: 525

A list of affected VINs has been published. Fiat Ducato Series 2 owners are encouraged to check if their vehicle is included in the recall.

What should owners do now?

Once a corrected software update becomes available, Fiat will contact the affected owners and ask them to book a servicing appointment as soon as possible to install the update, free of charge.
