Ford confirms Mustang Dark Horse T8-Spec arrival for Australia

Ford has confirmed the first Australian customers will receive their Mustang Dark Horse with T8-Spec Pack in the fourth quarter of 2026. The update came as part of Ford Australia’s major Ford Uncovered event in Melbourne, where the company outlined its plans for new models, electrification and a broader local vehicle lineup.

While the Mustang Dark Horse’s return to Australia and the T8-Spec Pack were announced earlier this year, Ford has now reaffirmed the delivery timing as part of its latest local product plans. The T8-Spec Pack is particularly significant because it was developed specifically for Australia in collaboration with Triple Eight Race Engineering.

Triple Eight brings a Supercars connection

The Ford Mustang Dark Horse T8-Spec Pack adds a distinctly Australian flavour to Ford’s most track-focused Mustang. Triple Eight Race Engineering is one of Australia’s best-known motorsport teams and has worked with Ford on developing the package for the road-going Mustang Dark Horse.

The upgrades focus on handling, chassis tuning and visual changes rather than extracting more power from the 5.0-litre V8. Power remains at 350kW and 550Nm, with the T8-Spec Pack offered exclusively with a six-speed Tremec manual transmission. The special edition also receives revised suspension components, stiffer springs, a firmer rear anti-roll bar and changes designed to sharpen the steering and handling response.

Just 250 examples for Australia

Only 250 examples of the Mustang Dark Horse with T8-Spec Pack will be offered in Australia. The special Mustangs will be locally upfitted at Ford’s Broadmeadows Plant 2 facility in Melbourne, adding another layer to the car’s Australian connection.

The T8-Spec also stands apart visually with unique Triple Eight branding, a black roof, special bonnet decals and Notorious Blue Brembo brake calipers. A performance rear spoiler with Grabber Blue detailing is also part of the package, while an upgraded front splitter is supplied for track use.

Inside, buyers receive Recaro sports seats with Indigo bolsters, Triple Eight scuff plates, a unique gearshift knob and an individually numbered build plate.

A special Mustang for Australian enthusiasts

Ford’s announcement confirms the T8-Spec Pack will be one of several new products helping broaden the brand’s Australian lineup. But unlike the incoming Bronco Basecamp or all-electric Transit City, the T8-Spec Mustang is firmly aimed at performance car enthusiasts.

The standard Mustang Dark Horse is already the most performance-focused version of Ford’s iconic coupe, and the locally developed T8-Spec Pack takes the concept further with chassis and track-oriented upgrades developed with one of Australian motorsport’s biggest names. Ford has previously confirmed the standard Dark Horse is priced from $104,990 before on-road costs, while the T8-Spec Pack version is priced at $138,888 before on-road costs.

With only 250 examples planned and first customer deliveries due in the final quarter of 2026, the Australian-developed Mustang will remain a relatively rare sight on local roads.
