Ford Australia has issued a recall affecting 2,696 Ford Ranger utes, Ford Everest SUVs, and Ford F-150 trucks manufactured between 2019 and 2025, and fitted with ARB Solis lights. The company has warned owners to park their vehicles in open spaces away from structures and flammable materials until the defect is rectified. The issue marks the seventh Ford recall in Australia during 2025 alone, according to the official notifications.
What’s the defect, and why is it so serious?

The current Ford recall addresses a manufacturing defect in the wiring harness for the ARB Solis lights, an official accessory. The design flaw in the affected cars allows moisture ingress, which can potentially cause corrosion. This could further result in generating excessive heat and a fire risk while the car is parked or running. ARB Solis lights represent premium, high-output LED auxiliary lighting, commonly fit to Ford Rangers, Ford Everests, and Ford F-150s.
The defect is particularly concerning because electrical fires can develop rapidly without obvious precursors or dashboard warnings. This fire increases the risk of injury to the vehicle occupants or the outsiders.

What should car owners do now?

Ford’s recall notice includes an urgent instruction: “Affected vehicles should be parked in an open space and away from flammable materials and structures, until the defect has been rectified by a Ford dealership.”
Ford is also providing deactivation instructions enabling owners to disable the Solis lights as an interim measure, allowing continued vehicle use while awaiting permanent repair parts availability. Owners can easily identify the ARB Solis lights, as they are typically mounted on bull bars, roof racks, or integrated into front bumper sections and bear ARB branding.
They can also contact Ford or an authorised Ford dealer with their Vehicle Identification Number (VIN) found on the Department of Infrastructure’s website to confirm whether their specific vehicle is included in the recall population.
