Key highlights

  • Ford’s new seven-year, unlimited-kilometre warranty applies to eligible vehicles serviced exclusively through its dealer network.
  • The Bronco Basecamp, electric Transit City and Mustang Dark Horse T8-Spec Pack have been confirmed for Australia.
  • Ford aims to cover more than 60 per cent of the Australian new-car market within three years.

If there’s one number Ford Australia wants burned into your brain this week, it’s seven. That’s how long its new warranty now covers eligible vehicles — up from the industry-standard five years most brands still offer.

The catch, and it’s a fair one in our opinion, is that you need to keep servicing your Ford exclusively through its dealer network to hold onto that extra cover. It applies to new and demonstrator vehicles delivered from 1 September 2026, with the warranty clock starting on the delivery date, or first registration for demo cars.

Ford’s Director of Customer Service, Greg Davidson, framed it as a trust play more than a marketing gimmick, pointing to a century of dealer relationships in Australia. It’s also being extended to commercial buyers who service through the dealer network, a meaningful sweetener given how much of Ford’s local business runs on utes and vans doing the heavy lifting for tradies and fleets.

For anyone shopping a Ranger, Everest or Transit in the coming months, this is genuinely useful information, an extra two years of cover can matter a lot when you’re weighing up total cost of ownership, especially on vehicles that rack up serious kilometres.

New metal: Bronco, Mustang and an electric Transit

The warranty news landed alongside a genuinely interesting product slate, unveiled at Ford’s “Ford Uncovered” event in Melbourne. The headline reveal is the Bronco Basecamp, an adventure-focused SUV running Ford’s first “super hybrid” extended-range electrified powertrain, essentially a system designed to blend electric driving with the range confidence of a petrol engine. It’s aimed squarely at the growing appetite for electrified SUVs that can still handle proper off-road duty, and it’s due here in the second half of 2027.

Closer on the horizon is the all-electric Transit City, a smaller, zero-emission version of Ford’s long-running Transit van, with customer deliveries kicking off in November 2026 at a recommended driveaway price of $50,000. For tradies and delivery fleets eyeing an EV transition, this is one to watch. Then there’s the fun one: an Australian-exclusive Mustang Dark Horse with a T8-Spec Pack, developed in partnership with Triple Eight Race Engineering, the outfit best known for its Supercars pedigree. It arrives in the fourth quarter of 2026, and given Mustang is already Australia’s top-selling sports car, expect plenty of interest from performance buyers wanting something a little more track-honed.

Ford Pro brings the business side together

Ford Uncovered

Alongside the consumer-facing news, Ford used the event to officially launch Ford Pro in Australia, an integrated ecosystem already running successfully in Europe and North America. Instead of buying a commercial vehicle and sourcing finance, servicing and fleet software separately, Ford Pro bundles all of it together.

That’s a meaningful shift given roughly half of all vehicles sold in Australia go through an ABN, and Ford has spent over a decade closing the gap on the market’s leading commercial brand, down to just 3,400 units year-to-date, having even topped monthly commercial sales outright in April and June this year.

Why does it matter for Australian buyers?

Ford Uncovered

Ford’s pitch here isn’t subtle! They back a strong sales record, Ford Ranger has been Australia’s best-seller for three consecutive years, with longer warranty cover, a broader lineup, and better support for the tradies and small businesses that make up so much of its customer base.

None of this is speculation dressed up as news, every date, price and detail above comes directly from Ford’s own announcement. The bigger ambition, doubling market coverage past 60% within three years, is the number worth watching as more of this new lineup actually lands in showrooms.
