GAC has lowered the entry price of its Emzoom small SUV in Australia, with a new Premium variant arriving at $22,990 drive-away. The new model sits below the existing Emzoom Luxury and cuts $4000 from the entry price of the range. It also puts the Emzoom among Australia’s cheapest new SUVs, with the introductory price matching the MG ZS Vibe.
The introductory drive-away offer is available nationwide until September 30, 2026. GAC has not yet confirmed how much the Emzoom Premium will cost after that date. Orders are open now, with the first cars expected to reach Australian dealerships from early September.

Both variants are front-wheel drive and use the same 1.5-litre turbocharged engine. The Premium’s introductory national drive-away offer runs until September 30, with pricing beyond that date yet to be announced.

What do you get for $22,990?
Despite being the new entry point to the Emzoom range, the Premium retains the same 1.5-litre turbocharged petrol engine as the Luxury. It produces 125kW and 270Nm, with peak torque available from 1400rpm to 4500rpm. Power is sent to the front wheels through a seven-speed dual-clutch automatic transmission.
GAC claims fuel consumption of 6.6L/100km on the combined cycle. The Premium also comes with a seven-year, unlimited-kilometre warranty, which applies across GAC’s Australian passenger-car range.
The standard equipment list is reasonably generous for an SUV at this price. Highlights include:

The Premium also gets a suite of active safety technology, including autonomous emergency braking, forward collision warning, lane-keep assist, lane-departure warning, high-beam assist and integrated cruise assist.
The cheaper price comes with some compromises
The Emzoom Premium may be $4000 cheaper than the Luxury, but GAC has achieved that lower price by removing a number of features.
The Premium misses out on the Luxury’s panoramic sunroof, powered tailgate, ventilated driver’s seat, ambient lighting and wireless phone charging. It also uses 17-inch wheels instead of the Luxury’s 18-inch units.
The biggest differences, however, are found in the parking and safety equipment.
The Premium has a conventional reversing camera and three rear parking sensors, while the Luxury gets a 360-degree camera, six front parking sensors and six rear sensors. The cheaper model also misses out on automatic parking and blind-spot view.
More notably, the Premium has front and second-row seatbelt force limiters but no seatbelt pre-tensioners, while the Luxury gets pre-tensioners for both rows. The Premium also does not have the Luxury’s rear seatbelt unfastened reminder. The Emzoom has not yet received an ANCAP safety rating, so there is currently no independent crash-test rating for Australian buyers to refer to.
How big is the GAC Emzoom?
The Emzoom is a five-seat small SUV measuring 4410mm long, 1850mm wide and 1600mm tall, with a 2650mm wheelbase. It offers 341 litres of boot space with the rear seats in place, increasing to 1271 litres with the rear seats folded. The Premium has a kerb weight of 1370kg and rides on 215/60 R17 tyres with a temporary spare wheel.
A new budget SUV option for Australia
The Emzoom Premium gives GAC a particularly aggressive price point in Australia’s new-car market. For $22,990 drive-away, buyers get a five-seat SUV with a 125kW turbocharged engine, dual-clutch automatic transmission, adaptive cruise control, smartphone connectivity and a seven-year unlimited-kilometre warranty.
That makes the Emzoom considerably more powerful on paper than the similarly priced MG ZS Vibe, although the GAC’s lower-priced variant also gives up some equipment compared with its own Luxury grade.
For buyers focused on getting into a new SUV without pushing beyond the $25,000 mark, the Emzoom Premium is now one of the more interesting options to consider.
