The Geely Starray EM-i has been awarded a five-star ANCAP safety rating, reinforcing the brand’s growing reputation for safety in Australia. Following in the footsteps of the EX5 electric SUV, the Geely Starray EM-i impressed across all four key assessment areas, underlining Geely’s commitment to making advanced safety technology accessible to a wider audience.

Advancing Geely Auto Australia’s safety credentials, the Geely Starray EM-i achieved scores of 90 per cent for Adult Occupant Protection, 87 per cent for Child Occupant Protection, 86 per cent for Vulnerable Road User Protection, and 82 per cent for Safety Assist.

Alex Gu, CEO of Geely Auto Australia, said the result highlights the brand’s safety-first philosophy.

He said: “Keeping all road users safe is Geely’s highest priority. The Starray EM-i’s excellent ANCAP result is the latest testament to our mission of making exceptional levels of safety accessible for all.”

“Safety is embedded in our DNA, and Geely remains committed to continually exceeding the standards that shape safe mobility.”

Breaking down the scores

Adult Occupant Protection – 90%

ANCAP testing showed the Geely Starray EM-i provides excellent protection for adult occupants, scoring 36.23 out of 40 points. The passenger cabin remained stable during frontal offset and full-width frontal crash tests, delivering good to adequate protection across all critical body regions.

Side-impact and oblique pole tests also returned strong results, with good protection recorded for the head, abdomen, and pelvis.

The inclusion of a centre airbag between the driver and front passenger further enhanced protection in side-impact scenarios by reducing occupant-to-occupant injuries.

Child Occupant Protection – 87%

The Geely Starray EM-i demonstrated strong performance as a family-focused SUV, scoring 42.81 out of 49 points in ANCAP’s child occupant assessment, in both frontal offset and side-impact crash tests involving child dummies. ISOFix anchor points on the rear outboard seats and top tether anchorages for all rear seating positions help simplify secure child seat installation.

ANCAP also noted the vehicle’s structural integrity and effective restraint systems, which contribute to high levels of protection for younger passengers.

Vulnerable Road User Protection – 86%

This category highlights the Geely Starray EM-i’s focus on pedestrian, cyclist, and motorcyclist safety, with a score of 54.44 out of 63 points. The bonnet and windscreen provided good to adequate head protection, while the pelvis, femur, and lower leg areas also showed strong results.

The vehicle’s autonomous emergency braking system performed well in detecting and responding to pedestrians, cyclists, and motorcyclists, helping to either avoid or significantly reduce the severity of collisions across a wide range of scenarios.

Safety Assist – 82%

The Geely Starray EM-i is equipped with an extensive suite of advanced driver-assistance systems, all fitted as standard, earning 14.92 out of 18 points in ANCAP testing. These include autonomous emergency braking, lane keep assist, blind-spot monitoring, intelligent adaptive cruise control, and a driver monitoring system.

In ANCAP testing, these technologies demonstrated strong real-world effectiveness, particularly in emergency braking and lane support scenarios, contributing to the SUV’s solid overall Safety Assist score.

Both the Complete and Inspire trims of the Geely Starray EM-i come generously equipped with a wide range of safety features, including:
