GWM has announced a national test drive campaign focused on its plug-in hybrid vehicles (PHEVs). The campaign runs from 21 February to 7 March 2026.
Customers who test drive and purchase a participating GWM PHEV during this period will receive 3 free scheduled services, worth up to $1,595, depending on the model. The models included in the campaign are Haval H6 and H6 GT PHEV, Cannon Alpha, and Tank 500 PHEV.
Why GWM is running this campaign
The Australian car market is moving quickly toward electrified vehicles. GWM says it now offers 5 PHEV models across different vehicle segments, giving buyers more choice.
These vehicles are designed to offer meaningful electric driving range, handle long-distance travel, and even SUV and off-road capability.
GWM’s sales performance in Australia

GWM sold more than 4,100 PHEVs in Australia in 2025. It ranked 3rd in the PHEV segment and achieved a 7.8% market share (according to VFACTS). More than 2,500 units of GWM Haval H6 and GWM Haval H6 GT range were sold. PHEV variants made up 19.2% of total H6/H6 GT sales. This shows growing demand for hybrid SUVs in Australia.

What is Hi4 and Hi4-T technology?
Hi4 stands for Hybrid Intelligent 4WD and is GWM’s next-generation plug-in hybrid (PHEV) system. The Hi4 system uses 2 electric motors, has 3 power sources, offers multiple driving modes and automatically adjusts power for efficiency, grip and performance.
The system can also detect different road surfaces and driving conditions. It then adjusts power delivery to improve traction, safety, and fuel efficiency.
Hi4 was recently recognised by the China Society of Automotive Engineers (SAE-China), winning a National Engineering Award. It is the first hybrid system in over 30 years to receive this award.
Hi4-T
Hi4-T is designed for more serious off-road vehicles. It combines the hybrid electric drive, mechanical 4WD, low-range gearing, and locking differentials. This system aims to deliver strong electric driving ability and serious off-road performance.
Vehicles included in the offer

The national test drive campaign covers the following PHEV models:
- GWM Haval H6 PHEV — up to $1,085 in service value
- GWM Haval H6 GT PHEV — up to $1,060 in service value
- GWM Cannon Alpha PHEV — up to $1,595 in service value
- GWM Tank 500 PHEV — up to $1,455 in service value
The GWM Tank 300 PHEV is not included in this promotion.
How to qualify for the servicing offer?
Customers must sign a purchase contract between 21 February and 7 March 2026 to receive the free servicing offer. The vehicle must be delivered by 31 March 2026.
The free servicing covers standard scheduled servicing, applies under normal operating conditions, and starts from the date of first registration. It does not include wear-and-tear items or extra maintenance for severe use.
Customers are advised to check with their local GWM dealer for full service details.
Making PHEVs more accessible
GWM says this campaign allows buyers to experience its advanced hybrid technology, try electrified vehicles in real-world driving, and receive added value through free servicing. The company aims to make plug-in hybrid vehicles (PHEVs) more accessible while maintaining competitive pricing.
