GWM has confirmed another electrified off-roader for Australian buyers, announcing the Tank 300 Hi4-T plug-in hybrid will land in showrooms during the first quarter of 2026.
Pricing and detailed specifications will be released early next year. Still, the Hi4-T will become the fourth powertrain option in the Tank 300 range — joining the existing petrol, diesel and hybrid variants — and the brand’s third plug-in off-road model after the Cannon Alpha and Tank 500 PHEVs launched earlier this year.
The Tank 300 range currently tops out at $56,990 drive-away for the Ultra Hybrid, suggesting the new PHEV could carry a modest premium. In the larger Tank 500, just $4000 separates the Ultra Hybrid and Ultra PHEV.
Tank 300 pHEV performance
Like the Tank 500 and Cannon Alpha PHEVs, the Hi4-T pairs a turbocharged 2.0L 4-cylinder petrol engine with a 9-speed hybrid automatic transmission and mechanical four-wheel drive with low-range and locking differentials.

Tank 300 pHEV off-roading gear
GWM claims a 3000kg braked towing capacity, matching the Tank 500 PHEV but trailing the Cannon Alpha PHEV by 500kg.
The Tank 300 Hi4-T will retain its signature off-road hardware, including:
- Double-wishbone front & multi-link rear suspension
- Creep mode & Tank Turn function
- Multiple terrain modes
- Surround-view camera with transparent chassis view
- Vehicle-to-Load (V2L) power supply for off-grid use
GWM Tank 300 pHEV market positioning
The Tank 300 Hi4-T will target buyers seeking quieter low-speed off-road capability and lower running costs, while maintaining the rugged character the range is known for. It will compete against electrified 4WD rivals like the Jeep Wrangler 4xe and Mitsubishi Outlander PHEV — but likely at a far sharper price.
More details, including final features and launch pricing, are due in early 2026.
