The 2026 GWM Tank 500 Hi4-T PHEV has been updated for Australia with a range of localised enhancements aimed at improving driving dynamics and everyday usability.

Chinese carmaker GWM has confirmed the arrival of its new AT-1 (“At One”) product localisation package for the electrified off-road SUV, alongside the addition of a new 220V interior vehicle-to-load (V2L) power outlet. The updates apply to MY2026 vehicles built from March 2026 onwards.

AT-1 tuning developed for Australian roads

According to GWM, the new AT-1 package has been specifically engineered to better suit Australian and New Zealand driving conditions. The upgrade introduces revised damper tuning and updated steering calibration, with the brand claiming improvements in steering feel, ride composure and overall driver confidence across a variety of environments.

GWM says the changes are intended to deliver a more intuitive and dynamic driving experience whether the SUV is being used in urban traffic, on long-distance highway trips or during off-road adventures. The GWM Tank 500 Hi4-T PHEV now also becomes the second GWM model to receive dedicated ANZ-specific ride and handling tuning directly integrated into factory production.

Another major update for the 2026 Tank 500 Hi4-T PHEV is the addition of a new 220V power outlet located in the rear storage area. The new outlet expands the SUV’s vehicle-to-load functionality, allowing owners to power external electrical devices directly from the plug-in hybrid system.

GWM says the setup can support camping equipment, power tools and lifestyle accessories, making the SUV more versatile for touring and outdoor use.The addition further strengthens the Tank 500 Hi4-T PHEV’s positioning as a premium electrified off-road SUV targeted at buyers looking for both family practicality and adventure-focused capability.

GWM has confirmed the updated 2026 Tank 500 Hi4-T PHEV is currently priced at $77,990 drive-away as part of the brand’s May promotional offers. Its regular drive-away price remains $79,990.
