Honda Australia has detailed the full 2026 CR-V lineup, now available to order. The update centres on a broader hybrid offering, new technology features, and a significantly reduced entry price for electrified variants, now starting under $50,000 driveaway.

The range includes both 2WD and AWD hybrid configurations, alongside a seven-seat petrol variant, widening its appeal in the medium SUV segment.

Features and technology

The 2026 Honda CR-V introduces a suite of upgrades across the range:

  • 2nd-generation Honda Connect with Google built-in
  • 360-degree camera (select grades)
  • Head-up display
  • Heated steering wheel
  • Ventilated front seats
  • Heated rear seats

Ownership package

  • 5-year unlimited kilometre warranty
  • 5-year premium roadside assistance
  • Five low-price services ($199 each)

Market positioning

According to Robert Thorp, Director of Automotive at Honda Australia, the expanded hybrid lineup reflects shifting buyer preferences:

“Australians are choosing hybrids in record numbers… Expanding e:HEV down the range means you can now get into a hybrid CR-V for less.”

The addition of AWD hybrid variants further strengthens its positioning against electrified rivals.

Legacy and global standing

Since its debut in 1995, the CR-V has remained a key global model:

  • Over 13.5 million units sold worldwide
  • More than 244,000 units sold in Australia
  • Among the best-selling compact SUVs in the United States over nearly three decades

Why does this update matter?

The 2026 update is less about a redesign and more about strategic realignment. By lowering the hybrid entry price and expanding availability across trims and drivetrains, Honda is directly responding to rising hybrid demand in Australia. The inclusion of AWD hybrid variants also closes a key gap in the previous lineup, while added in-cabin technology brings the Honda CR-V in line with newer competitors in the segment.
