Hyundai Motor Company has unveiled the all-new Hyundai Elexio, a fully electric SUV developed through its Chinese joint venture, Beijing Hyundai. The new model combines advanced EV technology, family-friendly practicality, and long-range capability. Although built specifically for the Chinese market, Hyundai has confirmed it will be launched in Australia as well.

Australian launch timeline
The Hyundai Elexio electric SUV will arrive in Australia in early 2026, with local pricing and specifications to be revealed closer to launch. It will likely slot in above the Hyundai Kona Electric but below the IONIQ range of Hyundai EVs.
With its family-focused cabin, practical EV range, and smart connected technology, the Hyundai Elexio is positioned to become a worthy contender in Australia’s growing demand for compact electric SUVs and crossovers.

The Hyundai Elexio is based on the brand’s Electric-Global Modular Platform (E-GMP), the same architecture used in the IONIQ 5 and IONIQ 6.
Developed under the ‘In China, For China, To Global’ strategy, the Elexio blends Hyundai’s proven EV expertise with Chinese innovation to deliver a model that’s both regionally focused and globally relevant.
“This is a dedicated EV tailor-made for Chinese consumers, and the first model under our ‘In China, For China, To Global’ strategy,” said Ickkyun Oh, Head of China Business Division at Hyundai Motor Company.
