Hyundai Motor Company has officially unveiled the IONIQ 6 N, its second high-performance electric vehicle, at the Goodwood Festival of Speed in West Sussex, England. This global debut marks a pivotal milestone in Hyundai N’s electrification journey, following the critically acclaimed Hyundai IONIQ 5 N.
Building on Hyundai’s motorsport roots, particularly its involvement in Pure ETCR, the Hyundai IONIQ 6 N incorporates technologies and know-how developed through N’s “rolling lab” programs. The model upholds the brand’s core N philosophy: Corner Rascal, Racetrack Capability, and Everyday Sportscar, combining track-ready performance with daily usability.

Advanced control technologies

The Hyundai IONIQ 6 N features a suite of N-developed performance technologies:
- N Launch Control: Optimises wheel slip for maximum traction at takeoff.
- N Grin Boost: Delivers 10-second bursts of maximum power and responsiveness.
- N Drift Optimiser: Offers individual-level control of drift initiation, angle, and wheel spin.
- N Torque Distribution: Adjustable across 11 levels for front and rear torque.
- N Pedal: Offers three selectable levels for faster cornering tuck-in motion.
- N Brake Regen.: Delivers up to 0.6 G of regenerative braking, with 0.35 G under ABS.
- TPMS Custom Mode: Lets the driver set their preferred tyre pressures.
Immersive driving experience

A performance-focused cockpit is enhanced with N e-Shift, Hyundai’s virtual shift technology that simulates close-ratio gear changes found in ICE vehicles. It integrates seamlessly with other features like N Launch Control, N Drift Optimiser, N Grin Boost, and N Torque Distribution.
N Active Sound +, powered by stereo sound and an Acoustic Design Processor (ADP), delivers immersive engine-like sounds with three selectable modes:
- Ignition: Inspired by motorsport
- Evolution: Hyundai EV heritage sound
- Lightspeed: A futuristic, sci-fi-inspired tone
Inside the cabin, the N Ambient Shift Light visually signals shift points through ambient lighting, creating a visually immersive performance cue.
For track enthusiasts, the N Track Manager enables drivers to create custom tracks, monitor speed, compare lap data via ghost car visuals, and analyse real-time lap times.
Dynamic hardware and aerodynamics

The Hyundai IONIQ 6 N features stroke-sensing Electronically Controlled Suspension (ECS) dampers, providing broad damping adjustability for various driving conditions. A reengineered chassis and redesigned suspension geometry improve ride comfort and handling. The lowered roll centre enhances high-speed stability and cornering grip.
A drag coefficient of 0.27, combined with performance-oriented aerodynamics, supports the vehicle’s racing credentials. Motorsport-inspired design features include:
- Swan neck rear wing
- Widened fenders
These elements improve high-speed stability and visual aggressiveness. The model also debuts a new Performance Blue Pearl paint, described as a refined, deeper version of Hyundai N’s signature colour.
