Australian buyers are showing strong interest in the facelifted 2025 Isuzu MU-X, with impressive sales month after month since its launch earlier this year. The top-spec MU-X X-TERRAIN has been particularly popular, driving much of the demand.

MU-X sales at a glance

  • May 2025 sales: 1,643 units
  • June 2025 sales: 2,033 units (record month)
  • July 2025 sales: 1,635 units (record July)
  • 3-month total: 5,311 units — highest in MU-X history

Isuzu has plans to increase supply from September 2025 to match the increased demand for its three-row 4×4 SUV.

Unprecedented growth

Isuzu UTE’s 25MY MU-X range is setting new sales benchmarks

The 2025 Isuzu MU-X has set new sales records in Australia, with demand reaching an all-time high since its facelifted version launched earlier this year. The seven-seat SUV recorded 1,643 sales in May, followed by 2,033 in June, its best-ever monthly performance. Even in July, typically a slower month, it sold 1,635 units, marking another record.

In total, over 5,300 MU-X models were sold between May and July, making it the strongest three-month period in the vehicle’s history.

Isuzu MU-X X-TERRAIN drives strong interest

A major driver of this sales momentum has been the top-spec MU-X X-TERRAIN. This variant offers a combination of high-end comfort, advanced features, and robust off-road capability. Power comes from a 3.0-litre turbo-diesel engine (140kW/450Nm).

Key features include:

  • 3,500kg braked towing capacity
  • Part-time 4×4 with terrain modes
  • Seven-seat configuration
  • 18-inch alloy wheels
  • LED headlights and daytime running lights
  • Apple CarPlay and Android Auto
  • Adaptive cruise control
  • Lane keep assist
  • Autonomous emergency braking

Supply constraints and recovery

Earlier this year, sales were limited due to low stock levels as dealers cleared out the previous 2024 model year (24MY) inventory. However, with the arrival of the 2025 MU-X in March, supply has gradually improved.

Isuzu UTE Australia (IUA) has confirmed that more stock will arrive from September, which should help meet the growing demand. The company is also collaborating with global production teams to increase supply.

How does the MU-X stack up in the market?

In 2024, the MU-X was:

  • Australia’s 6th best-selling 4×4
  • 3rd in the competitive ‘Large SUV under $80K’ segment
  • 15th overall in total vehicle sales, with 17,978 units sold

Its strong positioning puts it up against Australia’s favourite seven-seat SUVs, such as the Ford Everest and Toyota Prado 250 Series, both of which are priced slightly higher. On the other end, there’s the Mitsubishi Pajero Sport, which offers a lower starting price, along with value-driven SUVs such as the Chery Tiggo 8 Pro.
