With sales of the Isuzu D-Max 4×4 and MU-X SUV slipping in 2025, the Japanese automaker is pushing back with aggressive drive-away offers. The move aims to keep Isuzu competitive against strong-selling rivals, such as the Ford Ranger, Ford Everest, and a growing field of dual-cab utes and family SUVs.

Sales slump sparks discounts

Year-to-date figures show D-Max 4×4 sales down 10.7%, while the MU-X has dropped by 18% compared to the same period in 2024. Following these dips, Isuzu has extended no-cost drive-away pricing on several high-demand models, folding in registration, insurance, and other on-road fees for added value.

Isuzu has long positioned itself as a value-focused brand, and with the ute and SUV market heating up, these price cuts could assist the brand in winning back buyers from rising competition.

Isuzu offering drive-away deals

Isuzu D-Max gets thousands off

Three popular D-Max variants are included in the current drive-away offers:

ModelDrive-away Price offerPrevious price (+ on-roads)Potential savings*
D-Max Blade$77,990$78,900 + on-roadsUp to $9,200
D-Max X-Terrain$68,990$70,500 + on-roads$6,000–$9,200
D-Max X-Rider$57,990$59,500 + on-roads$6,000–$9,200

*Savings vary depending on location and on-road costs.

These discounts put premium D-Max trims within reach for buyers considering alternatives like the Ranger Wildtrak or Mitsubishi Triton GSR.

MU-X SUV also gets a price cut

The seven-seat Isuzu MU-X LS-T 4×4 is also included in the offer, now priced at $69,990 drive-away (down from $71,400 + on-roads). Depending on the state, buyers could save more than $9,200 compared to regular on-the-road pricing.

Why the push now?

Beyond the sales slowdown, Isuzu’s timing may be influenced by looming regulatory changes. Australia’s New Vehicle Efficiency Standard (NVES) imposes stricter emissions rules and higher penalties on passenger vehicles, which includes the MU-X 4×2 range. Those models are on the chopping block, while 4×4 versions remain under lighter commercial vehicle rules.

By strengthening the appeal of its 4×4 offerings now, Isuzu may be shoring up sales before these changes take full effect.

Limited-time opportunity

The deals are set to expire on August 21, 2025, leaving a narrow window for shoppers to secure one of these discounts. For anyone eyeing a new ute or SUV, this could be one of the best opportunities in 2025 to drive away in a top-spec Isuzu without straining your budget.
