Jaecoo has issued a safety recall for its new T35 SUV (model year 2025), citing a manufacturing defect that could result in a sudden loss of motive power and/or unexpected engine shutdown.

The recall affects 1,028 vehicles across both all-wheel-drive and front-wheel-drive variants sold in Australia.

What’s the defect, and why is it so serious?

According to the official recall notice (REC-006534, campaign RCB2601), the Electronic Control Unit (ECU) wiring harness in affected vehicles may chafe against the engine mounting bracket.

Over time, this contact could damage the wiring harness, potentially causing the vehicle to lose motive power or the engine to shut down suddenly without warning.

Which vehicles are affected?

  • Make: Jaecoo
  • Model: T35
  • Variant: 1.6T DCT AWD, 1.6T DCT FWD
  • Model Years: 2025
  • Total Affected Units in Australia: 1,028

A list of affected VINs has been published. Jaecoo T35 owners are encouraged to check if their vehicle is included in the recall.

What are the hazards?

A sudden loss of motive power and/or engine shutdown while driving could significantly increase the risk of an accident.

Such an incident may result in serious injury or death to vehicle occupants and other road users.

What should owners do now?

Jaecoo will contact owners of affected vehicles in writing, asking them to schedule an appointment with their local dealership.

Dealers will inspect the vehicle and carry out any necessary repair work free of charge. Owners are encouraged to act promptly once contacted to ensure the issue is resolved as soon as possible.
