Kia Australia has issued a nationwide safety recall affecting several of its 2025 model vehicles, with 11,567 units impacted by a software fault that may cause the instrument cluster display to malfunction.
The recall (campaign numbers 261026, 261029, and 261M06, recall reference REC-006557), originally published on 6 March 2026, relates to a software error that may cause the instrument cluster screen to display a blank screen or operate incorrectly.

What’s the defect?
According to the recall notice, a software error in the Instrument Cluster Control Unit may prevent the instrument cluster from functioning as intended.
In some cases, the display may appear blank or respond slowly, preventing drivers from viewing important information.
Why is it a safety concern?
If the instrument cluster fails to display properly, the driver may be unable to see critical vehicle information, such as:
- Speedometer readings
- Warning lights
- Other essential driving indicators
Without access to this information, the driver may not be fully aware of the vehicle’s operating status, increasing the risk of an accident that could cause injury or death to vehicle occupants and other road users.
Which vehicles are affected?
- Make: Kia
- Model: K4, EV6, Carnival, Sorento, EV9, Sportage, EV5, EV3 and Tasman
- Variants: All
- Model Years: 2025
- Total Affected Units in Australia: 11,567
A list of affected VINs has been published. Kia owners are encouraged to check if their vehicle is included in the recall.
What should owners do now?
Kia advises affected owners to contact their local Kia dealership to schedule an appointment.
