Key highlights:
- Leapmotor B03X starts at $26,990 before on-road costs
- 53kWh Long Range version claims 382km WLTP range
- Australian showroom arrival is scheduled for November 2026
The 2027 Leapmotor B03X has undercut the BYD Atto 2 to become Australia’s cheapest electric SUV as of October 2026. It starts at $26,990 before on-road costs, or $29,990 drive-away under a national launch offer.
This price puts it within $500 of the entry-level Geely EX2 electric city hatch, while offering a larger battery, longer claimed range, more power and a bigger body. The B03X arrives in Australian showrooms next month in November.

Two Leapmotor B03X grades
Leapmotor will launch the B03X in two versions. The Style uses a 39.8kWh lithium-iron phosphate (LFP) battery, and the Design Long Range upgrades to a 53kWh LFP battery, slightly larger than the BYD Atto 2’s standard 51.1kWh pack.
| Specification | B03X Style | B03X Design LR |
|---|---|---|
| Battery | 39.8kWh LFP | 53kWh LFP |

| Length | 4270mm | 4310mm (+40mm) |

The Atto 2 produces 130kW, but its 290Nm output exceeds the Leapmotor’s 200Nm, and the B03X gets faster charging hardware than the Atto 2. Both B03X versions also support 3.3kW vehicle-to-load (V2L).

Small SUV, clever storage

The B03X sits below Leapmotor’s B10, which is classified as a small SUV but ranks among the larger models in its segment. The B03X also sits below the mid-size C10.
Leapmotor has fitted the B03X with several unusual storage solutions. Its Leap Flex seats allow the bases of the 60:40-split folding rear seats to lift upwards, cinema-seat style, which creates additional floor space for tall or bulky items.
There’s also a 105-litre Leap Box beneath the boot floor which is waterproof and washable. Leapmotor claims the cabin contains 33 storage spaces, and with the rear seats folded, boot capacity expands to 1315 litres.

B03X SUV price and colours
The 2027 Leapmotor B03X will launch nationally at these prices:
| Variant | RRP | National drive-away price |
|---|---|---|
| Leapmotor B03X Style | $26,990 | $29,990 |
| Leapmotor B03X Design LR | $30,990 | $33,990 |
The ownership benefits and warranty terms for the Leapmotor B03X in Australia fall under the brand’s updated Leapmotor Care program, which offers:
- 8 Years / 160,000km High Voltage Battery Warranty
- 6 Years / 150,000km Vehicle Warranty
- 8 Years Roadside Assistance
- 8 Years Capped Price Servicing
The entry-level Acorn Brown exterior finish costs nothing extra, but the following colours add $990: Rime Beige, Galaxy Silver, Tundra Grey, Berry Blue, and Seaweed Green.
The B03X may not be the end of Leapmotor’s push into this price-sensitive part of the market, as a lowered B03 hatchback could follow the B03X and would likely cost even less.
For now, though, the B03X takes the title of Australia’s cheapest electric SUV and brings its combination of battery size, charging capability and equipment into a very low price bracket.
