Chinese EV brand Leapmotor is ramping up its presence in Australia with the announcement of a new flagship variant of its mid-size electric SUV, the Leapmotor C10 AWD Sports+ Special Edition.
Set to arrive in April, the new variant delivers a major performance boost and upgraded electrical architecture, positioning it as one of the most potent offerings in the C10 lineup to date.
Performance-focused flagship joins the range
Designed for buyers seeking stronger performance from a fully electric SUV, the C10 AWD Sports+ Special Edition delivers a substantial leap over the standard model.
Output jumps from 160kW and 320Nm in the regular C10 to a formidable 440kW and 760Nm, enabling a claimed 0–100km/h sprint of just 4.0 seconds. This is made possible by a dual-motor setup paired with an Intelligent AWD Control system.
The system is designed to optimise traction across a variety of surfaces, including wet roads, gravel, and light off-road conditions. It can also seamlessly switch between single- and dual-motor operation, balancing performance and efficiency depending on driving demands.
Bigger battery and faster charging
Beyond outright performance, the Sports+ Special Edition also benefits from a more advanced electrical platform and increased battery capacity.
An 81.9kWh lithium iron phosphate (LFP) battery delivers a claimed driving range of up to 510km (NEDC), or up to 437km on the more stringent WLTP cycle.
Underpinning the system is an 800V architecture, enabling DC fast charging speeds of up to 180kW. Leapmotor claims the battery can be charged from 30 to 80 percent in approximately 22 minutes when connected to a compatible fast charger.

Pricing and ownership benefits
The Leapmotor C10 AWD Sports+ Special Edition is priced from $53,888 (before on-road costs), underlining the brand’s focus on delivering strong value in the electric SUV segment.
Buyers are backed by Leapmotor’s ownership program, which includes a six-year/150,000km vehicle warranty, eight years of roadside assistance, and an eight-year/160,000km battery warranty. Capped-price servicing is also offered for eight years.
