Lexus Australia has issued a recall for 523 units of the RZ, built in 2023. The recall includes all variants due to a manufacturing defect within the Heating Ventilation Air Conditioning (HVAC) system. It’s the same defect affecting select units of the Lexus UX300e, but it’s got its own recall notice.

What’s the defect, and why is it so serious?

A manufacturing issue may induce the heating element within the Heating Ventilation Air Conditioning (HVAC) system of the vehicle to deteriorate over time, leading the windscreen defrost function to not function properly. This can result in poor visibility for the driver, putting the occupants of the car in danger.

Which vehicles are affected?

  • Make: LEXUS
  • Model: RZ (XEBM15R)
  • Model Year: 2023
  • Total Units Affected: 523
  • Recall Number: REC-006427
  • Campaign Number: 5GG46

Lexus has released a complete list of affected Vehicle Identification Number (VINs). If you own either a Lexus RZ, it’s recommended you verify whether your vehicle is part of this recall by reviewing the VIN list provided.

What should owners do now?

If your vehicle falls under the list of affected vehicles, it is advised that you book an appointment with your preferred Lexus dealer. Technicians will replace the electric heater, free of charge.

Additionally, owners of the affected vehicles would also be contacted by Lexus to help them schedule an appointment with a dealership to get the issue resolved at the earliest.

This isn’t just a precaution, but an important safety repair that should be fixed as soon as possible.
