Mazda has upgraded the BT-50 ute range with a new 2.2-litre turbo-diesel engine, providing the workhorse with more power, improved fuel efficiency, and the option of four-wheel drive in the entry-level XS grade. The updates also extend to the 3.0-litre diesel variants, which now feature idle stop-start technology and equipment upgrades across selected trims.

Entry-level diesel engine replaced

The outgoing 1.9-litre diesel has been swapped for a larger 2.2-litre four-cylinder turbo-diesel. This upgrade delivers more pulling power and smoother highway cruising while helping to reduce fuel costs.

- Power: up by 10kW (now 120kW)
- Torque: up by 50Nm (now 400Nm)
- Transmission: new 8-speed automatic (vs. 6-speed)
- Fuel economy: up to 0.7L/100km better

3.0-litre diesel updates

While the 2.2-litre engine takes the spotlight, Mazda has updated the 3.0-litre diesel across XT grades and above. The improvements are as follows:
- Idle Stop System: engine switches off when stationary and restarts seamlessly
- Fuel consumption can be reduced by up to 11%
BT-50 XS grade gets more versatility

The 2.2-litre engine is available only in the XS trim. Buyers can now choose from:
- Single Cab Chassis (4×2)
- Dual Cab Chassis (4×2 and 4×4)
- Dual Cab Pickup (4×2 and 4×4)

On sale in October
The revised Mazda BT-50 range goes on sale nationwide from October 2025. Buyers will also have access to a broad catalogue of Mazda Genuine Accessories, all covered by a five-year, unlimited-kilometre warranty if fitted before delivery.
