Mazda has announced that cumulative global production and sales of the CX-5 have both reached 5 million units as of the end of 2025, marking a major milestone for the brand’s best-known SUV.

The achievement makes the Mazda CX-5 the third model in the brand’s rich history to pass the 5 million unit mark, following the Mazda323 and Mazda3, and underlines the crossover’s importance to Mazda’s global growth over the past decade.

Mazda said the CX-5 is also the fastest of its models, fully incorporating Skyactiv technology and the company’s “Kodo – Soul of Motion” design language to reach the milestone.

Sold in more than 100 markets worldwide

Since its launch, the Mazda CX-5 has been sold in more than 100 countries and regions, and continues to serve as Mazda’s core crossover SUV offering.

Mazda credits the model’s ongoing popularity to its blend of sporty styling and an engaging driving experience, positioning the CX-5 as a long-term favourite among buyers looking for a more driver-focused alternative in the competitive mid-size SUV segment.

New Mazda CX-5 incoming

Koichiro Yamaguchi, Program Manager for the CX-5, said the company was grateful to customers and fans for supporting the model globally.

He noted: “The “all-new” CX-5 has been fully changed in eight years, with Mazda further refining its design and driving dynamics while improving cabin space and comfort for all passengers.”

The 2026 Mazda CX-5 introduces a larger body, increased rear passenger comfort, more cargo capacity, and new safety and infotainment upgrades aimed at keeping the CX-5 at the forefront of the fiercely contested medium SUV segment.
