Mercedes-AMG has finally revealed what last year’s wild AMG GT Track Sport Concept was really about, and it’s big. That concept wasn’t just for show, as it’s now confirmed as the foundation for the production of two hardcore new machines. A next-generation Mercedes-AMG GT3 and an even more extreme Mercedes-AMG GT Black Series.
A specific debut date has not been named, but Mercedes-AMG has set an ambition for the GT3 to enter racing for the 2027 season. The technical details will be revealed later.
One concept, two missions
The ‘AMG GT Track Sport Concept’ was always meant to be more than a design study. It’s a technology platform built to push limits on both the racetrack (GT3) and the road (Black Series).
According to Michael Schiebe, Chairman of the Management Board of Mercedes-AMG GmbH, AMG is aiming high. They are launching the most extreme Black Series ever and a record-breaking GT3 race car, both based on the Track Sport platform.

Testing already in full swing
The AMG prototypes have been undergoing serious development since October 2025. Test locations include AMG’s home track in Immendingen, Bilster Berg, Portimão, and Monteblanco. Now, testing has moved to the legendary Nürburgring Nordschleife, marking the next phase.
New GT3

The upcoming Mercedes-AMG GT3 continues AMG’s strong Customer Racing legacy. Here is a quick look back at the Customer Racing timeline:
- 2010: Customer Racing program launched
- 2011: First season with SLS AMG GT3
- 2016: AMG GT3 arrives
- 2020: GT3 Evo update
Now, AMG is preparing the next evolution.
Affalterbach Racing GmbH and Mercedes-AMG Motorsport are handling the GT3’s development. Goals for the new GT3 are higher performance, improved safety, and stronger competitiveness.
Motorsport boss Christoph Sagemüller says the team is now entering intensive track testing (identified with a red theme) to refine the car.
The Black Series

The Mercedes-AMG GT Black Series represents the pinnacle of AMG road cars. The Black Series badge dates back to 2006, built on one idea: “Bring racing DNA to the road.”
AMG was founded in 1967 by engineers Hans Werner Aufrecht and Erhard Melcher. One of the early models was Mercedes-Benz SLK 55 AMG, which was used as an F1 Safety Car and in racing programs.
That same philosophy of track performance in a road-legal package continues here. And this time, AMG promises the most extreme version yet. Its prototype dons the yellow-green colour scheme on track.

The bottom line
The “Track Sport” name isn’t random, but represents the link between the pure race focus of the GT3 and the road-legal brutality of the Black Series. Both cars share the same DNA, just applied differently.
Both models are still in development, and more technical details and specs will be revealed later, but one thing is already clear. Mercedes-AMG is doubling down on hardcore performance, on track and on road.
