Mercedes-AMG expands A-Class and CLA with Edition R and Edition R+ models

Mercedes-Benz Australia has announced the introduction of new Edition R and Edition R+ variants in its compact AMG range. The Edition R models are now available for the A 35 4MATIC hatchback and sedan, as well as the CLA 35 4MATIC Coupé. Meanwhile, the more exclusive Edition R+ trim has been added to the punchier AMG A 45 S 4MATIC+ and CLA 45 S 4MATIC+.

These special editions focus on sporty styling and dynamic equipment, marking the first time the Edition R concept has been extended to the marquee’s compact offerings in Australia.

Pricing for the A-Class and CLA Edition R and Edition R+ variants

All prices include GST and applicable LCT but exclude on-road costs such as registration and dealer delivery.

Key highlights of the A 35 and CLA 35 Edition R package

The mildest AMG compact models only get the Edition R package, which includes the following changes:

• AMG Aerodynamics Package
  • Rear wing (A 35 Hatch) or spoiler (A 35 Sedan and CLA 35 Coupé)
  • Larger front splitter, additional flics 
  • Rear diffuser blade in high-gloss black
• 19-inch black AMG alloy wheels
• Red-painted brake calipers
• Black ARTICO/MICROCUT upholstery with red contrast stitching
• AMG aluminium interior trim

All three body variants here use the same 2.0-litre four-cylinder turbo engine mated to an 8-speed dual-clutch automatic, producing 225kW of power and 400Nm of torque.

Additional features for the A 45 S and CLA 45 S Edition R+ package 

For the premium of well over $30,000, these models offer an extra 85kW of power and 100Nm of torque, and all features of the Edition R, plus:

• AMG performance seats
• AMG rear wing (available for the first time on the CLA 45 S)

The Mercedes-AMG Edition R and Edition R+ models are now available for order across Australia, starting July 25, 2025.
